March Madness!

I will probably be the one going crazy by the end of this month, but I just can’t pass up this challenge. A friend of mine informed me today that it’s National Craft Month! It’s also National Nutrition Month and Irish-American Month! Does it get any better? And, of course, St. Pat’s Day is is the 17th, which just happens to be my favorite holiday! So, each day (we’ll do our best to post everyday) we will try and get something crafty and homemade up here.

So, here we go...today, March 1st, is National Pancake Day. We decided to combine delicious “healthy” (we found out late that it was Nutrition Month, so next time we’ll post a healthy version) pancakes with Kirigami for our first post.

Kirigami is paper folding and cutting (think origami and snowflakes). You can buy pre-made patterns and simply fold and cut them out. You can glitter them, string them up, and the list goes on. We used them as a template for sprinkling powdered sugar over pancakes (not healthy at all...sorry...next time). Just be careful when removing the template because the sugar can fall off and mess up the design. For a healthy version, make whole wheat pancakes with egg whites and use Greek yogurt in place of powdered sugar. Enjoy!

  2. Thank you!!! It was fun! I didn't come up with the designs...I used a pattern. I just folded and cut on the lines...just so you know. :) But, you could totally fold it like a snowflake and cut your own designs.
