Art Trade
We love art trades and were able to trade a little cash, some tams, and a scarf for some amazing custom glass beads, an anklet, and two necklaces! The beautiful bead and knot work is by local artist, Matthew Peters. Check him out here and grab some of his art.

First Comes Love...
next comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage! Remember this post awhile back? Whelp, like the above saying predicted.... the baby is HERE! Before this little bundle of joy was born, I got a call from the proud momma-to-be who wanted to learn how to crochet a baby blanket. Sure, no big deal. I was pretty confident I could teach her how to crochet a little cozy cover and maybe we could even use two colors if we wanted to get crazy. She had something totally different in mind... MATH!!! She wanted to make a Fibonacci blanket! But not just any regular Fibonacci pattern. She decided we needed to double everything! :) I loved it though because I knew my dad would get a kick out of it. He loves math and I love math because he does, so I put on my "thinking cap" and we got to work. I decided to make a scarf to show her how to switch colors, etc. while she tackled the blanket. I remember telling her I wasn't going to leave until she switched colors, so I knew she could do it on her own. Well, before her baby shower I noticed I still had the unfinished scarf. I decided to finish it and loved the final product. I wanted to keep it because it was the first one I made, but I knew it had to go to her. So, along with some necessary baby goodies, she also got a Fibonacci scarf. This picture doesn't show all the details of the beginning rows, but you get the idea. Excited to make another one!

Second Anniversary!
Today is a special day because it's the second anniversary of my dad's double lung transplant. Last year we made him blow up a balloon to celebrate one year, but this year we gave him a break. He has been through a lot these past few months and most of
our time has been spent in the hospital.
Last year we had a difficult time with his one year anniversary and this
year was no different. It’s easy to get
overwhelmed with different emotions, but I think one emotion we can all agree
on is gratitude. He has been through so
much and we are so grateful to get to celebrate this day with him and to think
of all the people that are in our lives. Over the past five years, we have
become friends with so many wonderful people that we would have never met and
we are truly thankful for all of them.
That’s why we’ve been making so many scarves… they are being distributed
to all the doctors, nurses, staff, and team who have helped care for my dad and
us over the past few months. My dad
wouldn’t be moving forward with his rehab if it wasn’t for all the amazing
people we have been surrounded by in the hospital for the last few months. I know I have said this many times, but this
whole journey has made us really appreciate the small things… like watching my
dad take a sip of an ice cold Pepsi that he has been waiting to enjoy for over
three months. Since we went easy on him
this year, next year he owes us. So,
maybe I’ll have him cross the finish line at one of my races. We'll see. Anyway, today, along with his ice cold Pepsi, I was
also able to deliver 2 great pieces of news…
Donate Life agreed to sponsor 30 technical Donate Life running shirts
for next year’s LA Marathon, so we will be able to run, raise awareness, and
collect donations in support of inspiring the community to register to become
organ, eye, and tissue donors. Also, one
of my dad’s nurses won the KONAinspired contest and she will be competing this
October!!! Although it was a simple
celebration, it was perfect. Today was a
good day! Here’s to many more
anniversaries, dad… we love you!

Scarves Round 5
I think our scarf count it up to 47 scarves in three months!!! I did time myself and I can make one in about 3 hours, but that's going super fast with no breaks. Usually I start it one day and finish it the next. A couple people have been asking me why I'm making so many and where are they all going. Stay tuned and the answer will be revealed on June 19th. In the meantime here are some more finished products.

Scarves Round 4
I'm getting super fast at making these! I'm going to time myself start to finish and see how many hours it takes me to finish one. I'll report the findings later, but in the meantime here are some non-timed finished products. :)

Scarves Round 2
Here's a few more! Green is a very popular color and thankfully it's my favorite color, so I don't mind looking at it for the minutes... and hours... and days that it takes me to make one of these! :) We have duplicate colors just so you know. We're not putting the same pictures twice. I really made all of these! We finally got a little creative with our packaging too, instead of just wadding them up. More to come...
